CD-R/RW recommendations?

hey guys, my dad's computer is in desperate need of a new cd-r/rw drive. as it's been a good two years or so since i last bought a cd-r/rw drive, i'm very much behind the times when it comes to what the best drives currently are (my current cd-r/rw drive is a 24/10/40 Cendyne... which suits my needs just fine as i rarely use it to burn anything). obviously my first instinct is to come here and ask you guys!

what do you recommend as far as brand, specific model, speeds, all that?? my dad doesn't need anything real fancy... price comes first, then reliability, then speed, then extra features.

as always, thanks in advance!

LiteOn or Plextor; since price is a concern, get the LiteOn.

    I second the Litey...

I think its the best my self but that's just me...

What ever you do don't go for the off brand name that claims it to be the same Lite-On... They may be made by Lite-on for them but they sure aint lite-on...

If it don't say "Lite-on on the front panel don't bother with it...

I'm sure that the Plextor is good to but more expensive and the last time I saw drive comparisions at ClubCD.com the Litey's were pretty much still the best, Although I haven't been there in a few days, thing might have changed...
