10 mgb connection only getting 1.5
Hello, I have a 10 megabyte download connection and have ran many speed tests and the test results all say I'm only getting 1.5, not only that, when I try to buffer a video or flash it takes about the same time a dial-up connection would take. I have installed hijackthis v2.0.2 and here is the log file:

There are bad trojans present in your log ( and maybe more lurking ), but first I need you to post the complete HijackThis log.
Hey, I'm getting a new pc either tomarrow or the next day, insted of helping me fix this one can you give me some tips to keep viruses of my new pc? I'm already going to get AVG but if there is any other programs you can inform me about to help me control virus, malware, hackers, etc, I would be most great-full.
Make Your Internet Explorer More Secure
This can be done by following these simple instructions:
- From within Internet Explorer click on the tools menu and then click on Options
- Click once on the "Security" tab
- Click once on the "Internet" icon so it becomes highlighted
- Click once on the Custom Level button.
- Change the "Download signed ActiveX" controls to Prompt
- Change the "Download unsigned ActiveX" controls to Disable
- Change the "Initialize and script ActiveX controls" not marked as safe to Disable
- Change the "Launching programs and files in an IFRAME" to Prompt
- Change the "Navigate sub-frames across different domains" to Prompt
- When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
- If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
- Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
Note that Internet Explorer is not the most secure browser. There are safer (and better) alternatives available like Opera and Firefox.Keep Your System Up to date
It is imperative that you keep your Windows, Antivirus, and other softwares up to date. Otherwise you are not protected against new threats and your system is vulnerable and unsafe. Update your Antivirus software at least once a week, and visit Microsoft Windows Update site regularly.
Install SpywareBlaster
SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware, Hijackers, and Malware
Additional Utilities and Tips to Enhance Your Safety
- MVPS Hosts file --- The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer.
- Comodo BOCLEAN --- Stop identity thieves from getting personal information. Instantly detects well over 1,000,000 unique, variant and repack malware in total. And it's free.
- Winpatrol --- Download and install the free version of Winpatrol. A tutorial for this product is located here: Using Winpatrol to protect your computer from malicious software
Get more knowledge about how to protecet your computer and prevent malware issues by reading these short articles:Make sure you have an Antivirus, Firewall and Antispyware scanner installed.
If not present, here are some I recommend:
- AntivirusScanners
- Firewalls
- AntiSpywarescanners
Never install more than one Antivirus and Firewall! Rather than giving you extra protection, it will decrease the reliability of it seriously! The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, your system may lock up due to both software products attempting to access the same file at the same time. Also because more than one Antivirus and Firewall installed are not compatible with eachother, it can cause system performance problems and a serious system slowdown.Make sure you DON'T download and install any scanner present on this list. These scanners are blacklisted because of their questionable reputation.
I also suggest to perform an online virusscan once in a while. Because what one virusscanner can't find another one maybe can. You'll find some good Online scanners Here.
