So just to clarify, once the Nader oasis spawn, a player who owns a WW village has to send his hero and a substantial force to conquer said oasis, and bring the plans back to the wonder village? Or am I way off?
No... someone allied with the village owner needs to take the oasis and the plans. I think... This is my first game so I'm really not sure but I know that those that do not have a village still have a part to play in the game.

you don't take the oasis, just the plans.
you destroy the treasure chamber, then launch a successful attack from a village of your own with a level 10 treasure chamber.
both the owner of the WW village AND someone in his/her alliance have to have a plan each.
if only you have one plan, you can build to level 50.
if only an ally has one, you can build to level 50.
only with both can level 100 be reached, and the game won.
which also explains the triads, they're competing but it also means they'll get a plan when one of their rivals take a plan... but they still each have to get one themselves.
but it saves their actual alliances the hassle of getting a second one.

Out of the 7000 Level 20 Praetorians I sent to the DTD-WW village, I have only lost 22 so far to attacks.
None have been lost to starvation.
I call that an acceptable loss.
I think troops starve off in the order in which they arrived. There was definitely a major gap in crop deliveries yesterday as Q lost 10k of his shortly after they arrived. This indicates to me that the last to arrive before a shortage are the first to starve. Maybe Muffin knows if this is the case or not for sure.
8000 spear and 2000 paladins... eaten by the troops. I know they like to oil themselves up to show off the muscles but that is not intended as the precursor to baking them.
Ooooft.. anyone know how bad there wheat situation is? how much negative per hour?
i just shipped 30k.
In a few mins ill ship about 50k from the outpost.
They have not given us any indication of the rate of loss. I'm sure it would be in their interest if they didn't release that info for security reasons.

Not even of their own members (Crackers) are getting the true picture of troops in the village and the wheat consumption....
EDIT: and their forum is next to useless !
EDIT2: Can we assume they will let the {IC} leadership know what they require and when they need it ?
I think it's your waves of intimidation you radiate Q. Honestly If I had to choose between cornering a raging bull or you...Then break out my matador's suit cuz thats the only chance I got

I love you too... I'll send that money latter for saying that...
Man I cant friggen wait until the server restarts and we have a fair shot at this ourselves. I mean seriously, give us the time that these guys have had, and add our level of coordination and we would have no problems...
it's a high goal, and it really isn't possible for one alliance to do it, it needs a LOT of players...
i've recently had thoughts doubting whether i SHOULD join at restart, and i decided if i do i will not be aiming to be one of the top, i'm just gonna play for the fun.
all this WW stuff is kinda boring unless you're actually making it. sitting at the sidelines is very unstimulating.
I think you guys are being fairly pessimistic. I think we could aim for the top and achieve it. It just requires a little determination. I like to think we are capable of doing what the average joe cannot.
I hold down my full-time job, which very fortunately for me affords me plenty of time to check on things like Travian without disrupting my work-flow a considerable amount. My second job (really, just a business I'm trying to grow up on the side) is flexible too as I'm the owner so if the boss man is pissed at me for spending too much time on the computer I just look in the mirror and tell him to get off my back! ;D;D
If I do play Travian again (I really do like this game) I think I'd rather play on a regular speed server, or, perhaps, a server that's even slower. That way I wouldn't have the same degree of compulsion to check on it every 3 minutes.
not necessarily, i will probably join in restart, but i'm not aiming for making a WW, i just want to have fun and not have to take it seriously.
and just because a few people who are large now don't restart doesn't mean it'll be a smaller alliance, as the larger people in our alliance started earlier than the others.
Yes, but their size afforded them experience that the rest of the alliance doesn't have yet. Them quitting will cost the alliance the time they have already invested in this game. :-(
I'm sure they are allowed. But I would be kidding myself if I said I could try the non-speed server. Maybe I am impatient, but I just couldn't get into a game that literally takes days to perform tasks... If I wanted that I could stick to real life. :-P
I'm not trying to convince anyone to switch to a non-speed server. But those of us that actually have families to take care of and jobs to go to don't often have the opportunity to give Travian the time it requires to become a truly competitive player. My job is very accommodating, but yet there have been days where I was unable to log in except late at night. That's a much larger blow on a speed server than it would be on a regular server. Last Wednesday through yesterday were very busy for me and I was not able to give Travian the time it requires, therefore I've slipped quit a few places in the alliance. On a non-speed server that would hurt me, but not be nearly as bad because only logging on a few times a day on a non-speed server would be absolutely fine.

Yea I knew defending was the easy part...

my thought process lead me to much the same conclusion, so i signed up to server 5 just there
i feel that it'll waste a lot less time, and there's less evil people on it, as evil people are very impatient people.

If not, we could still co-ordinate as if we were an alliance.
