WINE, the Microsoft Windows application compatibility layer for GNU/Linux has begun preparing for its big 1.0 release in July, just in time for it's 15th anniversary. WINE, or WINE Is Not an Emulator, has been in continuous development since 1993 and helps to smooth the transition from Windows to Linux by allowing users to run many of their favorite Windows applications while adjusting to the new operating system. Release Candidate 1 is available now and RC2 is scheduled to come along later this month.

We'll drink to that! Cheers!
