My harddrive has a bad block

My Event viewer is throwing out Event ID 7 - The device, \Device\Harddisk0, has a bad block.

Any recommendations on an application that I can use to identify and isolate the bad sectors without having to format the drive or compromise the data on the disk?

    Thank you sirs.

Seems like a worthwhile product to own albeit a bit on the pricey side. (negligible in comparison to data loss I suppose)

Ermmm tt thanks for the linky but unless I'm out to test my IQ it has no use for HDD recovery problem ;D

Have you run Checkdisk? I don't know if it will repair bad blocks, but it seems to be one of the best tools contained in Windows. If not already performed, I'd back up whatever data you can.

Generally speaking where one bad block exists, more are soon to follow.

Update: Went the safe route and replaced the drive.
