Mount Disc Help????????

edited July 2008 in Science & Tech
I created a virtual drive using Daemon Tools and put a .iso file in it. I tried opening a virtual drive in my computer and I get this error message:

windows cannot read from this disk. It could be corrupted, or it could be using a format not compatible with windows.

PLEASE HELP!

My guess is corrupt ISO file or not an actual ISO file type.

if you want to test the iso to see if it's readable (and therefore) mountable see if you can open it up with winrar. Don't extract it or anything just right click on it and do open with winrar. If winrar can see inside of it, then the image is fine.

I want to open an .iso and take the files from it without having to burn a compact disc. Is this possible?

Daemon Tools isn't working for me. The directions are so simple and easy to follow yet I am unable to burn thus far.

Try opening it with WinRAR (www.rarlabs.com)

I have had a similar problem before. . . Not sure this is exactly what has happened in your case but, I had downloaded a file which was compressed and i was confusing it with an ISO file. If this is it just extract it and mount. Easy. If it doesn't launch automatically go and double click the virtual drive in "my computer" and that'll do the trick. Hope that helps.
