Computer might be infected

edited September 2008 in Spyware & Virus Removal
Hello,

My computer was previously infected with a backdoor trojan, and so I formatted and re-installed windows. It was fine until a few days ago when some e-mails couldn't reach me, and my computer randomly re-started once. I scanned my computer with Norton, but all it found was a tracking cookie. So I posted a hijack this log and hope that you guys can check it out for me.

Thanks

    Hello Bob. :)

Your HijackThis log appears clean to me, so I'm inclined to think that this isn't malware-related. Let's give a more thorough check however.

Please go HERE to run Panda ActiveScan 2.0
    • Click the big green Scan now button
    • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
    • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
    • Once the scan is completed, please hit the notepad icon next to the text Export to:
    • Save it to a convenient location such as your Desktop
    • Post the contents of the ActiveScan.txt in your next reply

    Hi Chiaz

I did a scan with Panda ActiveScan 2.0 as you suggested, and have posted the results. I don't think that it found anything other than tracking cookies again.

    Looks good to me Bob.

If you are still experiencing problems, post on the other forums in Icrontic and make a reference to this thread. That way, anyone helping you will know to eliminate the possibility of a virus at work here.

Let me know how it goes as well.

    Hi

i've called my ISP, and they checked my e-mail problem. They messed around with the settings and it works now.

I'm not sure why my computer re-started but i haven't experienced the problem again. I guess the restart button could have been kicked by me. LOL

    Thanks for all your help.
