Phone pics without permission illegal in Hungary

edited December 2003 in Science & Tech
Last Thursday Hungary passed a motion to stop users of new digital camera mobile phones from taking and sending snapshots of people without their permission.

[blockquote]Hungary's data protection ombudsman ruled that mobile users transmitting pictures of people who are unaware of being photographed could be liable to prosecution -- as could the mobile service providers.

One more reason not to visit Hungary...

What next? Camera Cellphones becoming a contraband weapon that you need a permit for?

As if you needed a reason to NOT visit Hungary? Was anyone actually planning on going for the winter?

Of course! My itinerary includes stops in Budapest, Macedonia, Kandahar, Tikrit, the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea, and San Jose.

I can kinda understand why it came to this though
We just had some guy arrested in Seattle for voyerism that was using a phone camera to take snapshots up womens skirts...

The fact is that it has been proven time and time again that people can't police themselves and usually its one guy that runins it for every one...

I was just at my "Y" the other day and I saw a guy with his phone out it looked like he was doing something like taking a picture or something... I'm not sure that he was but it sure made me think that we are probably now going to have to deal with that kind of thing, where a person is in an open locker room and less than honest people are going to be taking pics of peeps in showers and stuff...
If we could count on a person to do the right thing then there probably wouldn't be a problem, but this would is full of people that don't do the right thing...

In this case, as I have said before, high tech is not our friend...

Egads, I'd never thought about locker rooms...good thing I don't go to a GYM, it'd be embarassing to have my flabby self flying around the internet.
I have to agree with you gtghm, that's a very bad scenario.
