Member profiles - much improved
Check out your new member profiles; there's a lot new in there.
I completely destroyed the default crap that came with vBulletin and started over:
Mine's a decent example of what's possible: http://icrontic.com/members/lincoln

I completely destroyed the default crap that came with vBulletin and started over:
- No more buddy lists and walls. We all have Facebook for that stuff.
- Re-did it without tabs and dropdowns - needlessly complicated
- Your "real name" will take precedence over your username if you fill it in.
- The "Biography" is what appears right under your name.
- If you add a profile pic, it will appear next to your name.
- Add fields for specs on your computer... Finally!
- Writers will see their latest articles and news in the right column
- You can now link to your profiles as http://icrontic.com/members/username (nice clean link for you to use elsewhere - spaces DO work)
Mine's a decent example of what's possible: http://icrontic.com/members/lincoln

Noticed a sight bug in firefox3... The white box div that contains the main info doesn't stretch down far enough to follow with the content. Looks like the height is determined by the 'Latest News' box, and not the 'posts' box. Should be a very easy fix, nesting div's correctly.
I'm using the dark theme, by the way. Haven't checked on the default. I get the same behavior in Safari as well.
**Just checked default. Forgot the BG has a slight gradient to white. That gradient goes to grey on dark theme, hence why you can see the bottom of the white box.
"Edit Profile" and "Preferences" received a major makeover this past weekend, which I hope will facilitate both new and veteran members making better use of them. If you can't remember what they looked like before, be glad the visage voluntarily left you
I will soon be making further improvements to the Profile pages; stay tuned.
I'm still not happy with the Bio section... it's still "vBulletin style", but we're getting closer.
What really makes them look good is a profile pic, "About Me" description, and a couple news items under your belt
..but now when I click on your example, I'm taken to the home page.
(Anyone else?)
Try it with Lincoln.
Oh right, forgot to mention that /members/username no longer redirects - it "stays pretty" after you enter it. I've also changed the links in posts and the front page to use that URL as well (instead of /forum/member.php?u=##)
Do want better blog integration in membarz profile.
Wordpress does blogs better than vBulletin, methinx? o.O
