    sorry if I missed something along the thread ...but why would you want to disable agp 8x?

    Because it causes the computer to hardlock as soon as it tries to do anything 3D.

    I wonder why that is happening? odd I do get better results when turning off fast writes in the SG though.

    Fast writes doesn't give or take performance normally, other than in the Environmental Bump Mapping test of 3DMark2001 where I gain 85fps from having it on.

    perhaps not ...but after extensive tests I discovered that having fast writes enabled in bios and disabled in smartguart gave best results ...but I only tested in aqua3
