So I was a bit bored this morning and needed an excuse to avoid xmas shopping. So I Itried maxing out my XP1700. I think I had a bit of an overclocking success! :ninja:

I just wish this NF7-S rev 1.2 would go over 200fsb, wont post at anything over 200.

What you need is more chipset voltage. A pencil mod is REALLY easy to do. I have done it several times on rev. 1.2 while it is in the case.

Jimbo, are both those sticks BH5 by Twinmos?

If so, run 5,2,2,2 or even 2,2,2,2 at 200 fsb. Do a sandra mem bench before and after and see. Like night and day.

Ok I thought I'd have a crack at breaking the 18000 barrier in 3dMark 2001 before I swap this excellent XP1700 out in favour of a Thorton tomorrow.

Even with the pencil volt mod (thanx Mackanz), this NF7-S doesn't like high fsb so could only get it stable at 215 .

Still she went back up to 2.6ghz (nearly) like a trooper and here's the result.

    Good man Jim!

What resistance did you get in the end from the resister?

    Nice Clock!

Hi Mack, 543ohms, cuoldn't measure the voltage due to waterblock being in the way.

    Thanks guys,

T1, the set up is as follows:

CPU water block = Swiftech MCW 462B
VGA water block = DangerDen Radeon block
Chipset water block = DangerDen Z Chip
Rad = Black ice extreme single 120mm rad with fans either side no shrouds on the rad yet
    Pump = Hydor L20

I also have a Hydor L30 pump but I've yet to try it out, I dont honestly think that a the huge increase in flow rate will actually give me good drop in temps more as think the rad is cooling at maximum efficiency.

Anyways the XP1700 is coming out as Santa delivered me an unlocked XP2400 Thorton in the post this morning which is going in as we speak! :)

    Regards

    Jim

You would probably get the most improvement from changing to a dual 120 rad.
Good luck with the Thorton. Keep us posted!
