I have this program on my computer (Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC) that I am not sure how it got on there. I want to get rid of it, but it's not in the list of add/remove programs. I cannot find in program files or anyhing like that either. The only way I see it running is by the task bar down near the clock. How do I go about uninstalling a program that is not in the add/remove programs list?

I'm assuming that you already tried various malware scanners.

End it process, search the computer for files that have 'uniblue' in them somewhere, delete them, then delete the associated registry keys. Read Office Hours 6, if needed.

Do all of this with caution.

Try MyUninstaller. It finds programs that Windows sometimes misses and is pretty good at removing things. It requires deliberate choices by the user so it's fairly foolproof as well. This is a great little tool that should be in everyone's XP toolbox.

The only thing it found when I searched for UniBlue was two scheduled tasks referring to that. No program files, folders, etc. When I delete the tasks they reappear upon reboot. I have run all the appropriate malware scanners to no avail.

I understand what it is. I just want to remove it though. I even tried downloading the program and then trying to uninstall it after that, but the little task tray icon is still there and the scheduled tasks reappear upon reboot.

Try msconfig. If that doesn't work, then open up the main registry page and perform a Find function for the name of the app.

    Did you try MyUninstaller?
