Computer shutting down by itself!!

Hi,
I have a problem where my computer keeps shutting down by itself. It usually starts with my AVG antivirus popping up a few times and warning me that it has detected a tracking cookie, each time it does this I move the infected file to the vault. After about 15min of this, the computer shuts down by itself. Then everytime I turn the computer on after this, it shuts down even before Windows has enough time to completely load.
If I then wait for say a day and then turn the computer on, the entire process described above repeats again.
To me it sounds like it is a hardware problem and that something might be overheating. However the tracking cookie that AVG keeps warning me about has me thinking that it might be a virus.
I have tried scanning the entire computer using AVG however the computer shuts down before the scan can complete.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
David

Tracking Cookies are harmless, and they shouldn't be cause of the problems.
If you can, try and download HijackThis...
Download HJTInstall.exe to your Desktop.
- Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
- By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
- Click on Install.
- It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
- Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
- Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
- Save the log to a convenient location as you'll need to post it soon.
- Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
- Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
Please post the HijackThis log back here.Scan saved at 5:35:21 PM, on 13/11/2008

The HijackThis log looks clean to me. Lets run a scan to see what it finds...
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
I downloaded Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and proceeded to do a full scan but the computer shut down before the scan could complete.
I then decided to clean all the dust off the CPU cooler thinking that the CPU was overheating because the fan was too dusty, but the computer still continued shutting down by itself.
I then decided to check the cpu temp by going into the BIOS and it showed the CPU temp reaching 110 degrees C at which point the compter shuts down.
So I guess I have found the problem... however I don't know why the CPU is overheating because the CPU fan seems to be working properly.
Is it possible that a virus could trick the computer into thinking that the CPU is overheating?
I managed to stop the CPU over heating, for the time being at least. I think one of the clips for the heat sink had come loose.
Anyway, I have done the scan and here is the log:

It is unlikely a malware problem would be causing overheating problems; however, I think you have identified the problem.
Hardware is not my strong point, so I suggest posting this in the Hardware forum in getting advice from others on this matter.
In the meantime, I'd like you to run one more scan...
Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner
Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner
You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.

By the way I have stopped AVG from scanning for tracking cookies because it always finds stuff every few minutes. Should I leave it so that it doesn't scan for tracking cookies?
Also, is there any way to stop getting tracking cookies? Or should I not worry about them?

David
