Gonna need some creative storytelling to explain the utter destruction, existence of mutants, and need for Rad-X and Rad-Away without the use of nuclear radioactivity.
It doesn't do away with THE nuclear fallout that is the namesake of the game - it has to do with a sidequest where you must detonate a nuke or something.

Honestly, that seems even sillier when you consider it that way. What a ridiculous change. You go from having a choice that, if the Japanese are as sensitive as Bethesda seems to think they are, 100% of them would have made "correctly" anyway, and instead just don't give them a choice at all. It's not like the game doesn't warn you what your actions are going to do.
