User Comments:
tea timer asked me to confirm a registry change for a ctfmon.exe upon startup, which I denied and had thought previously removed with Bitdefender/Spybot treatment.

Aside from that, I'm not too sure what is wrong. I noticed some strange performance with shutdowns, ran a scan and found this issue which it seemed to have cleared. I removed a something from the startup processes via S&D but it seems to have come back.

I'm running XP on a bootcamp partition on a mac book pro.

Any help or suggestions is grealy appreciated.

Thankyou =)

Edit Update:

I suspect I may have fixed the problem myself having done some research into the prcoesses and registry entires I felt were suspecious. The IRW.EXE seemed to be the main culprit after doing some looking about. Removed the registry entry and did a system serach and deleted the other IRW related files.

SpyBot, BitDefender, and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware all come back with a clean scan. I've added an updated hijackthis log and would appreciate it if someone could just double check I've fixed this issue.

    Hi there. irw.exe belongs to Boot Camp from Apple Inc.

    Your HijackThis log is clean.

    Optional Step

    Run HijackThis and click Do system scan only

    After the scan, please select the line below and click Fix checked

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE

    Realtek AC97 Audio - Event Monitor. "Sypware" file used surreptitiously monitor one's actions. It is not a sinister one, like remote control programs, but it is being used by Realtek to gather data about customers. If you delete this file, then you will not be able to properly update your drivers in the future. It is therefore recommended that you disable the startup instead.

    The above fix will only disable the startup for this file.
