I have been using a microadvantage 52x,24x,52x with no problem for about 2 months no problem. However, I recently did a fresh reinstalled of windows 2000 after the reinstall my computer sees the drive as "cdwriter ide5224 scsi cdrom device". It treats it as if it were only a cdrom and not a burner. I have tried various burner software and they do not see the drive

I have tried uninstalling it and adding it as a new device but it never lets me choose it as a burner. I can't seem to get it to work i installed new aspi thing from the microadvantage web site but still doesn't work

I don't know what the problem is any ideas?

Um, install the burner software that came with it, from the CD that came with burner. 2000 does not recognize burners well without burning software installed, but WHEN YOU INSTALL burning software, the driver for the burner will also be installed, usually.

    Reinstall chipset drivers? :confused2:
I've had certain vers of 4in1s and Nforce drivers that mess up my IDE and recognition/function of my burner.

ASPI Drivers maybe?? Those always used to give me all kinds of problems...

You can get the most common ASPI drivers from GoldenHawks Web Site . You just did a fresh install so if they break anything you can always do another install right?

anyways this has fixed a lot of burner incompatibility issues in Win2k for me.

    Give em a try.

    good luck.
