Halp! Halp!

I just typed this up and was asked to relogin so im doing the Tl;Dr version:
returning member, lost password and email for account sidekicksol, played for icrontic in travian and still do play with icrontians, need halp.

Today a bunch of attempts at accessing my computer were denied, CA warned me, I shut down access, log is filled with denied attempts outgoing and incoming for remote access.

Few days ago was looking for a program, even though I suspected it to be infected. It was, viruses were on computer before I could react (Hadnt even downloaded it yet 0.o), CA said to reboot asap or I would die in a fire.

Rebooted, ran scans, nothing found. Cleaned cache.

Heres the scan, this is what worries me:
12/31/2008 15:07:01 PM File infection: C:\Documents and Settings\Dwayne Schwartz\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\SRWWQ4KU\bigfots[1].exe is Win32/Gamepass.UP trojan.

    Hello. :)

    Download: CCleaner (freeware)
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4191.html
Run the installer, and uncheck the option to install Yahoo toolbar (unless you want Yahoo toolbar).
Once installed, run CCleaner click the Windows [tab]
The following should be selected by default, if not, please select:
    CCleanerA.png
Next: click Options click the Settings tab
Uncheck: "Only delete files older than 48 hrs.", click Ok
Then click Run Cleaner (bottom right) then Exit

    OK,

    Let's have a HiJackThis log;

    Download here

    Save to a permanent location (i.e. C:\Windows\HiJackThis).

Close all browsers/windows, open HiJackThis, click on 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.

Copy and paste the log into this thread.

Things have just become more complicated. Now, in firefox, I cannot get to any webpage. I didn't know the virus was going to become this bad... I've stopped off all internet access in the computer again.

Should I go ahead and try to download it from another PC and take it on a flash drive? I can't access email without a URL..
  • edited January 2009
    Does Internet Explorer work?

You can use a Flash drive to transfer the files and programs we need, but you'll need to ensure that you format the drive after all our work is done here.

Internet Explorer does not work. I do have a flash drive, several in fact, but I just figured out I would be taking the files from a mac to a pc... Im not sure that will work?

I need kaspersky after this whole thing is done /sigh
  • edited January 2009
Yes we'll just need to download some files and transfer them.

For now please download CCleaner and HijackThis (I provided the links in my earlier thread). Then transfer them to this infected PC and proceed with the scans.

CCleaner ran successfully, however i hate to ask but to be safe, could you provide a link to hijackthis without the *download now* button? I mean the original link.. Im not able to download it without it.. sorry for the extra trouble!
  • edited January 2009
Not entirely sure what you mean...but I will provide a few alternative links. Any of these will do...

My PC seems to be running fine! Internet is working as well now too..

L2 Rage Patch i was just wondering about so I googled it a few minutes ago and it's a game patch for Lineage 2 apparently. Who would thought? Lol.

Thank you for all your help! Does this mean Im ok?

EDIT: I still wonder what all those logs meant of my IP access being denied.. I guess no harm done though!

There's nothing you can do about those attacks from your side. As long as your firewall is blocking them, you should be fine.

Glad we could be of assistance! The help you received here was free.
