Not sure whats wrong.

edited January 2009 in Spyware & Virus Removal
Well, my computer started running slow today.
The computer itself seems slightly slower
and when I run a game its just terrible.

but before about 8 yesterday it ran just fine, which is why I'm worried its a virus. It goes from perfect in ultra high to crappy in medium.
Sorry about my nerd game problems, but it may have found a virus or something?

This computer is less than 2 weeks old, so shouldn't I also have restore points or something in System Restore?
which I have none of =/

One more thing.
My Winamp is screwing up. It freezes on startup, or when I play certain songs that normally would work.
I've reinstalled it before and the problem came back.

    Hello. :)

HijackThis log looks clean to me.

But let's give a deeper check...please go HERE to run Panda ActiveScan 2.0
    • Click the big green Scan now button
    • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
    • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
    • Once the scan is completed, please hit the notepad icon next to the text Export to:
    • Save it to a convenient location such as your Desktop
    • Post the contents of the ActiveScan.txt in your next reply

    Only tracking cookies.
    Could it be hardware problems?
    Or just something normal?

Also, what are these things in the HT log?

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file) is part of Windows Live Messenger.

O1 - Hosts: ::1 localhost refers to your Windows hosts file.

O13 - Gopher Prefix: is nothing serious, but just fix it if you will.

I suspect your problem goes beyond the malware realm, see if you can get help from the other Icrontians here:

Do place a link to this thread so that they know your computer has been checked for malware.

I ended up fixing all of those before just to see if I'd kill my computer or not. hah. :D
    Thank you.
If you want the thread here it is.

And thank you for your help.
This forums helped me quite a bit in the past (new account, I forget my old one completely)
It's great that people are doing something good instead of spamming viruses everywhere.
