Thinking about doing a 9800GX2 for my lan ring, and mainly for folding. I have a 650W ulta LSP in it and that is not going to change. Just wondering if it would actually run the GX2 when everything is folding, CPU & GPU at 100% 24/7, its only got 38 amps on a single rail. I have a Phenom 9600 on it at stock, 1 HDD, 92mm CPU fan, and DHX air ram cooler.

I did the power supply calculator and it came up with 375w, the GX2 will draw 28 amps at full load at max rez.

You'll be fine. At your system load you'll have about 100w to spare.

I am running one an an OCZ StealthXStream 600W without any problem. I also ran dual 8800/9800GT on a Corsair 550W. It handled the power requirements just fine, but the cooling fan spun up to an annoying sound. BTW, both those systems also have overclocked quad core processors.

    I run my 9800GX2 on a PC Power & Cooling 610w.
