Hi everyone!

I am having some strange issues with my computer lately and it is making me nervous, so nervous I backup everything at the end of the day! So here's the story...

At night we shut down the computer PROPERLY :), and in the morning when I start it up I get that screen that asks me how I want to bot up windows - safe mode, start normally and repair, etc.

WHY is it doing this? I am not a genius and I have used the web to figure things out before but I can't find a thread related to this anywhere. Any suggestions/ideas?

Thanks!

It's most likely more of a shut down issue than a restart issue. Have you added any new software (Roxio CD Creator is known to cause this) or do you have any new hardware that you've added, say, usb based?

If you go to RUN and type MSCONFIG, then look at the Startup tab, what all do you have loaded (checked off)?

And have you run a good virus/trojan scan ?

Yeah - we do...but I am thinking that this started right after I installed Roxio Cd Creator.....hmmm. Is there a way to fix it?

Not really. Roxio is hell on startup AND shutdown for Windows. I had to uninstall it (a derivative is used for BlackBerry multimedia management) because it was adding a full minute to my startup and shutdown times.

    It's a virus to me.

Is there a better program to use?

For what exactly? Simple audio CD burning?

The default Windows Media Player will burn you audio CDs without a problem. If you're looking for stuff like label making, however, it won't handle that.

Vista has built-in DVD burning in addition to CD burnging, right?

Yes it does. If you want to try a different program there are a lot of them out there. I've been using Ashampoo Burning Rom myself. http://www.download.com/Ashampoo-Burning-Studio-Free/3000-2646_4-10776287.html

Yea, once we stopped using Roxio - the problem MAGICALLY went away too :) I'm gonna try the link for the other program and see if I like it. Thanks for all the info!
