I think flash memory is pretty tough to recover files from. As in near impossible.

it looks like i have a program (sandisk rescue pro v3.3) that may work. It came with a CF card I bought, we'll see how well it works.

    Yes, Excellent program Thrax.
I have used PhotRec and Testdisk on a few occasions.
    It's a combined DL.
They have never let me down.
    TestDisk & PhotoRec 6.10

You make it sound like you frequently mistakenly delete photos from flash cards. Do you?

    Hey Leo, Hehehe.
No, It's not always me deleting photo's from pc's or sd cards.
Or having messed up drive's that need testdisk to repair/recover files, important data, etc.
    I build, maintain,update,upgrade 3-4 family pc's and also a few other pc's for friends.
With all that I get to use testdisk or photorec a few times a yr.
Not to mention Ladyhawk deletes photo's on our camera from time to time and then realizes she wants them back.
    "Don't mention that" Ahem...

Another program I've used to recover files from flash drives is Recuva from the same guys who made ccleaner.
