Spam catching on a server

One of my clients tried to save money and killed his MessageLabs subscription. I just changed our MX records and he is getting bombed with SPAM.

Some of you server admins, what do you use? Are there server based SPAM products that work well? What's the best bang for the buck on an Exchange server?

Right now, we use Symantec's Brightmail Gateway. In the past, I've used Barracuda's Spam Firewall, SonicWall's spam appliance, and Antigen.

They all work fairly well, and I'm not sure one is much better over another. From a management perspective, I'm not a fan of Brightmail. We're looking to switch to a hosted solution, actually.

    How many users?

Just 15. I'd rather stay with hosted too. For a small server like this, my impression is that hosted will be less admin intensive.

MessageLabs worked well. My guy won't go back. When he cancelled there they pointed to some fine print that said he had to give 3 month's notice. That is a pretty s--ty way to treat someone.

We use JEP(S) greylist and Sophos SafeGuard. JEP(S) has free and pay versions.

I'm going to play with that JEP(S) thing a bit. We'll see how it is.

Yeah, probably a better idea than the stuff I listed above. Fifteen is an incredibly small amount of users for those guys to be worth the cost.

We use a hosted spam service called MXLogic. They are really good. Super easy to setup and has great reporting and rules capability.

Recently moved most of our clients from MessageLabs to Reflexion.

The interface is a little lacking, but the product is great and the support is second to none.
