What server? Are we joining one that already has players or taking an empty server?

I don't think we'll have enough players to bother with an empty server. Let's just find a random one and try to all get on the same side.

    PS: We'll be using Ventrilo.

Everyone please get on Ventrilo so we can make the most of our practice.

    Plus trash talk.

I will try and be on at or close to the start, barring hw issues. We most likely will end up on US Server #8 which is all skirmish and its good for learning how to play because you don't have to keep track of anything besides which people to shoot.

Surprisingly I have been using the in game text chat and most of the active community responds and help make the game experience more enjoyable with the kind of banter we expect with IC events.

Last night was mainly to get people into the game and learning the maps. Some epic battles ensued, until [BETA]JR showed up and started REAMING everybody. Then GrammarNazi showed up and things went straight to hell.

Good times were had. Next time we need to get in an empty server and practice things like MPR boosts and setting up crossfire (seems to be the easiest way to take out the uber players).

It went pretty well. We got in about 10-12 rounds of skirmish last night and early on we were winning with our teamwork and just watching each others back. In the later rounds a couple of skilled players joined the server and played against us and some of us realized how much more we have to learn.

The two guys that were good would just MPR jump into our flanks and tear our suits when they went flying through us. All in all it was a productive night and those late come from behind wins were great.

Last night was stellar, I felt like almost everyone got the basic mechanics nailed down and we worked well as a team in the beginning. By the end we were getting raped by JR and Grammer because they threw in some more advanced tactics that we didn't really know how to counter yet.

The thing I think was most interesting about GrammerNazi was that while he was very effective at killing us, perhaps his even bigger contribution was to keep us stuck in our own spawn fighting close courters, watching out for him and too distracted while we weren't playing offensively and were just getting picked off by the rest of their team.

Whatever, you'll be kicking ass in no time.

Brain, did you ever get it working again?

As a note to your comment on GrammarNazi: he proved that a good player in someones spawn/rear areas can wreak absolute havoc on an entire team. As you pointed out, he kept us quite distracted and off the offensive, allowing the rest of his team to pick us off at will.

Don't feel to bad if you thought you were out matched by Jr, ranked 3rd currently. I think the more important thing to really focus on in the start is that you watch your kdr and aim for 1.0. The majority of the people at the top have kdrs ranging from 1.5 to 2.5. If you think about keeping a kdr of 1.0 that means you kill one person for every death you have this ends up making the overall team scores a wash.

When you have people stabbing groups it becomes pretty easy to stop that kind of attack if you are watching for them. A simple self EMP or concussion when they are headed at you and boosting because most of the time they boost into the ground and skirt the surface as a guide and to stay low. If you watch for small floating objects on the edges of maps and jetpack glow it cuts down on the number of times you will get stabbed or fly into a trap.

I'm probably going to miss tonight. I have to watch my niece tonight while we prepare for her new brother or sister to enter the world.

Stomp some faces for me tonight.

If your niece is old enough to stay up past 9 central, 10 EST, then she is old enough to not need a baby sitter.

Maybe she's old enough but Winfrey wants to spend time with her, family comes first IMHO.

I like how you guys think that I was just shirking off practice or making excuses not to play or what have you.

My niece is asleep by 8pm every night, but I was at my Brother's house watching her. My brother's house does not have hi-speed internet. He also does not have a DX10 ready computer. Therefore I wasn't going to get to play last night.

Winfrey did you bring a computer to lan???? Ryder pegged it also. I think family obligations trump practice.

Practice last night sounded like it went well last, I was only in game for the last hour. CB asked some really great questions about accuracy, recoil, and dmg. It seems like everyone is really getting a handle on controls, shooting, and most of the tactics that are needed to be great at this game. I don't want to talk about when 4 people get stabbed....:shakehead We said that we are going to try and do Thursday practice same time same people. This is mostly just to get more time in.

Thursday sounds great, a number of us need it :)

I really suck at fighting up close and using grenades, those are two things I need to work on. I'm enjoying sniping so far, and getting pretty decent at it when I find decent spots, getting to know the maps better will help.
