I can't even play offline, because the system automatically tries to connect for trophy info. Then I just get an error and it says "the game will quit now." Nice job, Sony.

My friend said this also affected his achievements negatively. Then again not sure if this is the same issue.

its the same thing if BEST BUY was able to brake our regular tv and say it happened because of a bugg so we can run to buy a brand new HDTV..... TUCK SONY

The temporary fix appears to be as simple as disassemble of the system and pulling out the battery within that powers the internal clock (when not connected to a power source.)

This will reset the clock, and once it tries to right itself off the internet, the date is past the problematic "leap year" date, and it will function normally now.

Obviously this is not something that you want to do to a system "in warranty", but how many of these "fatties" are still in warranty?

I was at my friend's house last night and couldn't even play Guitar Hero offline!

Mine, strangely, is unaffected though (and I own a chub).

With out question I want to see this fixed asap and who dosent the only people who will be jumping for joy are the fan boys at game stop who truly can naver talk samke about the ps3 and be truthful about it. (long story however its kind of a short one). When it comes to technolagy things do go wrong and it takes time to fix the problem. My only consern is if it will only take a fermware update will players be able to get it seeing as it how they cant log on. Oh and to all just as infomation, as it is true all slim models can log on to the PSN not all other cant, there are some who have 80gig models both 1st and last that have reported to me claming there PS3 is work just fine. Good luck sony on getting the problem fixed, hope you do soon.

Whhahahahaha, this is just another reason that Microsoft rules the gaming world and the PS3 is junk. Haha, a day without gaming, that's unforgivable but then we all know you don't have any good games so it's not really an big deal. hahaha lol

man wtf is this? We go buy like a 300 to 400 dollar console and now only "slim" ps3s have access to the ps network? I'm so anti-Xbox, but these occurrences keep trying to influence me to go buy one. FIX THE NETWORK, and tell infinity to get their crap together too. This is ridiculous considering how much one pays for the console not to mention the other accessories. How come PS2 didn't have these type of network related issues?? I'm pissed. And I'm about go blog about this to my friends.

I would take an internal clock error day over a yellow or red ring death anyday. xbox is for poor confused people.

Man this sucks I just had surgery last week to repair a torn ACL so i'm thinking since I can't work today i'll play playstation, but no I have to deal with this stupid error what's up with that. I guess i'm stuck with boring reruns of sportscenter.

I hate when things like this occurs. It causes the fanboys to step away from their clearly superior consoles and bitch online.

I got hit with this last night too. I was testing some things for a friend and was surprised to see it error after I'd been playing on it earlier in the day. The way it was acting, I was assuming it was a PSN error. After my buddy's did it, I attributed it to mishandling of the leap-year timing.

Oh, then, I began to wait patiently for Sony to fix it. I have these things called books.

This messed up all the trophies I had for Fallout 3. :( Also, for some reason.. the DLC's (Broken Steel and Operation: Anchorage) are also not working.. does this have to do with this error, also?

Koukaze, you probably shouldn't touch anything on your PS3 until this is worked out. I'd keep an eye on when the issue is reported as resolved, then see if there's an update to apply before trying to launch any games/apps.
  • edited March 2010
I don't think this is a clock bug.
It allowed me to update a game and even finished my PSN Store downloads.
Then the game I updated said at the end of an error message "do not bug this bug :p" yeah the ":p" would not come from developers
I think the PSN has been hacked and it looks like a clock error.

So, Sony "is aware of issue" then...nothing is wrong with the console then, right???
