    Much, much too high.

To give you an idea: my 1700+, OCed to 2.3Ghz hits 50*C after running F@H for 15 days.

Yes much too high, although it could be perfectly reasonable if using a stock heatsink. What heatsink are you using?

People should be asking: Is this Idle or Under 100% Load?

aren't all 2200+ palominos? if so, I'd guess this is load, and it looks a little high, but not a problem really. that's me though. I've got a 1700+ tbred b in my rig OC'd, it runs at 37 load. the 1800+ at stock speed in the wifey's computer runs at 53 load. its always run at 53 load, for the better part of a year and a half. it folds all the time. it's fine, but again, that's me.

edit: I just noticed he's got a folding sig. so now i'm pretty damn sure it's at load.

2200+ come as Tbreds as well. I had a 2200+ tbred A for a while before I upgraded to my Barton 2500+. 53c was what I had when I had one because the airflow round my case was crap. It ran fine like that for a long time foding 24/7.

its under full load folding. Its a stock heatsink, I guess ill upgrade it just trying to keep it quiet

full load? seems fine to me, like mackanz has pointed out in a few threads, anythign under 70c won't damage the chip. my 2500 with the stock cooler ~2.0ghz was very happy hovering around 50c

i might slap some as5 and see if that helps

53'c full load with a stock heatsink is fine. I would just try to keep it under 60'c.

Most people that responded to my inquiry on my temps thought that they were a little on the high side and I run 2.3GHz and right now my temp is 47C.

My XP2800 is running 55C and wifeys TBird 1.2 is running 65C. been those temps for a long while. Both at default speeds. Thats why I'm putting on SLK-900A's on both with good 92mm fans. Both are folding.

53c under load is to be expected from the stock heatsink, but it's really higher than I'm comfortable with.

yeah, i mean get yourself a better heatsink than the stock crap and add some AS3/5 whatever, it will get better, but a lot of people go overboard on temps. same with PSUs "omg, j00 must have teh 70000 watt PSU or else!!!!" give me a break. I've been running my PC on a 300 watt antec, and it's got a 9500 pro, two optical drives, three hard drives, and a gig of ram, and it's never been unstable. the error is usually between the monitor and the chair.

kanzefan, you're right; people (esp. me) tend to go overboard on temps, but 50*C+ is still a bit too high. I'd rather see it below 50*C under full load. <45*c would be ideal, but isn't necessary.

And you're right about the power supply issue. I've run 1.4GHz Athlon systems on 250w Antecs. If people knew how much power their systems actually used, they wouldn't buy these insanely large PSes.

Oh, and for the record, you're referring to a PEBKAC error- Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair

yeah i agree about temps, I don't like to see them higher then like 45 myself.

i always thought it was an ID 10 T error myself.

to sum up, get yourself a better heatsink and some AS5, or don't, either way, you'll be fine :D

ID 10 T error works too. You have no idea how may times I've said to people (over AIM) "it sounds like an ID 10 T error to me" and their response is always "I didn't see any error message." :banghead: :D;D

kanez, you're exactly right on the PSU issue - but a 300W Antec can usually outperform a 400W generic in real world output.
