Three 8-pins. This ain't your daddy's graphics card.

Now imagine two of them in Crossfire. They'll have to make longer Crossfire ribbons to account for the fact that this thing will take up 4 slots just to cool itself...

Its Nvidia so the bridge would be SLI. Quad SLI, 8 GPUs, madness.

They'll have to make entire new cases and motherboards for the "ZOMG I HAVE WAY TOO MUCH MONEY GIVE ME ALL YOUR BASES" enthusiasts who will buy 4 of these.

Yeesh. At that point, just buy a Tesla card and GPU compute the world into oblivion.

Oh the folding I could do. I could get rid of that big bulky gas furnace while I'm at it.

Your folding stats are impossible to read. Change fonts to white! DO IT NAO!

Actually the above linked card would only support Quad SLI (2 Physical cards) and Windows is still limited to 7 GPU's max :( no matter how many lanes or PCI-E slots you have.

How is Windows limited? I haven't heard of that restriction before.

Can anyone offer a quick spec comparison between a Tesla (or between the higher and lower end one ... 2050 vs 1060 or w/e) and what you would get with 4 GTX 480s?

It is a OS limitation. Windows 7, Vista & I think XP will only be able to read 7 physical GPU's. The fact is apparent int he crazy kids running massive folding farms on GTX 295's. Their systems will run 3 GTX 295's and also have a GTX 260 or GTX 280 giving them the max number of GPU's windows will see.

Sledge I keep waiting for you to call me on that. I know you can't do over 7 displays in windows, there are hacks/slash techniques in a few other OSs. The pic from above is from a GPU computing lab where a tech was given those cards and she is working on deciding what kind of platform to build the software on to run her test.

She did say that she believes she can use the CUDA interface to get around the GPU limit in windows. The question I have though is there was a European "super computer" that got built for a school when AMD released their spider rig which ran quad 9800GX2s and I wonder how they pushed a full work load to all 8 GPUs?

If those are 295's it is easy to show they are not ruinning properly. See the 4th card on the bottom. (Red Light on the 8 pin port) means the card is not running or not running properly.

Those are 9800GX2s. That red light usually indicates the power cable plug is not seated correctly. So there definitely can't be more than 7 GPUs running in that machine when the photo was taken.
