After reading the information in Minecraft Facts, which bobby posted in the other thread, I propose that we hold off on the reset until after damage and health are confirmed to be fixed.

The main reason to reset the server was to get the danger experience without already having a bunch of defenses built, so it doesn't make sense to reset before that comes into the game.

I think I agree with this. Interested to hear others opinions. Only back draw to staying I see is that Biomes will not be generated except on land that has not been generated yet. So basically we will not see biomes until we reset or if we travel outside the current Icrontinant.

It'd be rather silly to hinge the fate of a server--and our justifications for the reset--on a patch we don't test, don't you think? It goes without saying.

I'm not sure I understand your response here Thrax. CB is suggesting hold off on the reset of the server until SMP HP is addressed (this could be weeks after Halloween), not just until after we test the patch.

I get the direct impression it will be less than multiple weeks before SMP health is working, at least from Notches' comments.

That is my point. Our justification for resetting the server is "experiencing the game as it was intended," i.e. functioning health, legitimately dangerous monsters, etcetera.

It would not make sense to proceed with the server reset if we did not test the patch to determine if it performs as desired.

Okay. I was just making sure we were all on the same page about it, since the language of the poll is such that the content of the patch is irrelevant. I see we are, so no worries. :)

No damage and no working minecarts, he is marking that for Beta release. He is trying to get enough work done to push the game to beta but no real time frame as of yet.

Meh. I really think fixing the damage is something that should take higher priority.

Looks like the Icrontinent has received a stay of execution.

That has been the general consensus and critique against him.
