first i have to apoligize for my shift key being broken, over the cold spell, this kb was complely encased in 3 inchs of ice in my car's floor, frozen solid lol

but to the point, what is the best free av for everyday use, i was using avira but it had a habit of eating all my game trainers and no-cd patchs to my legally owned games, i only have 1 ide header and 2 storage drives so i disconnect the cdrom.

now im using avast but not had enough time to say yay or nay about it.

so how about you

AVG and Avast are popular ones around here.

I used Avast for a long time. Still recommend it. However, I've switched to Microsoft Security Essentials on all my PCs. I also install it on customer's PCs. Nothing wrong with Avast, AVG, or MSSE.

Good choice! AVG can be a bit bloated compared to others and Avira has the anoying pop up asking you to upgrade to hte full version. Avast gets my thumbs up... Although I have heard good things about Microsoft too.

I'm a big fan of Microsoft Security Essentials and I've recently been testing Comodo which doesn't seem to be too bad either.

I've been using Security Essentials and it hasn't given me a reason complain.

I not usually so trusting of Microsoft after years of supporting their platforms. To be fair, it works well and hasn't had any major bad press. Who knew?
