My 1st major test was with Need for Speed Underground. On my desktop-which is a P4 2.4-Nvidia 5200FX 128mb, I had to lower everything and run it at 800x600 to get any frame rates worth playing. I turned everything up and set it at the highest res. 1280x1040 and it ran flawlessly. I was surprised that it played in full stretched screen, same with Call of Duty-haven't played yet but everything looks nice so far.
I wonder why his NFSU had choppy gameplay on his desktop?
FX5200, nothing more than a rebranded GF2GTS.
I may be mistaken but....I believe that Medude is user name of the owner (or something) of the company who was being flamed so badly on the apple forums several months ago for pimping the company when it first appeared.

I would not be surprised at all, the whole post in there reads like an advertisement.

I don't think Medude is affiliated w/Go-L, but I know that another user @ notebookforums, "go-l support", or something to that effect, is. I'm amazed that someone who claims to represent a company (and apparently his IP, e-mail, etc. are consistent with someone who works for Go-L) would conduct himself in the manner that he/she has, but that's fine.
Go-L has definately ripped off Apple's site, there's no doubt about that. Their computers are also severely overpriced, and a lot of the claims they make are pure, unadulterated BS. But, the computers they're selling are still decent, just not for the price.
Just a quick note on the go-l "rip off" of apples website. Welcome to the web design industry. If someone comes up with a good idea, its going to be taken. Apple.com is a beatuiful website, and go-l.com is clearly using the same look for two reasons.
1) Marketing
2) Functionality
I dont blame them, in the business world it was a very smart move.
And of course you guys are going to criticize them, but they do make what appears to be an excellent product. I do not believe they rip anyone off either, and if I had the money I would buy one of their systems with the solid state hard drive. Those are just sexy computers.
Most of us here are accustomed to building our own speed deamons. We can make them faster and cheaper. So when we see a company trying to hang with us were gonna bitch and scream. So imagine you start up a PC company, building your highest quality PC. Then you just read someone syaing that you are a rip off. Well, of course he should have ignored the comment and not posted. But I think they are a fairly new company, and he probably wants to defend what he has put so much work into. I think he handled himself fine.
"I have been out on business for a while and therefore haven't been very envolved in the forums. I was pretty chapped about being told the Hollywood utililized dual channel memory and that it would include an internal wireless G card instead of B. When I called to confront this with L comp. I was lucky enough to talk to the person who told me the false info.. When I confronted him with it, he did not realize that it didn't utilize DDR. I sent it back a week ago and was informed due to the misinfo. that I would be receiving a full refund.
All the tweaks that they utilize in WinXP Pro is called Tweak UI. I believe it slows down the computer personally.
Would I buy from them again? No. I would definitly wait a year or so to find out if they are still around and what type of reputation they have made." (end of page 4 if you go on).
The rep from the company acted appropriately IMHO, he didn't flame but merely answered some simple and pressing questions. It does appear that a lot of what you're paying for @ go-l is simply free software tweaks that can be downloaded. Whether you like them or not is up to you. I'm not sure what use a ramdisk is with only 512 MB of ram ... but to each his own? But props to that company for trying to do something different in a tough market. I hope they learn from the mistakes they're currently making, cut some of the cheese out of the marketing and emerge as a player in the market. Given that they gave this guy a full refund for something pretty minor (I think its the dual ddr issue not just ddr itself but I could be wrong and the 'g' was probably a stupid salesman). I certainly wouldn't buy from em. I'll stick with Dell / Powernotebooks . I'm currently in the market for an ultra portable with a floppy drive to augment my Latitude D800 behemoth.

Nice GFX in that laptop though.
yeah because we all know how highly G-Lo computers are.
