Make two volumes into one?

Hi!

I have an Asus X5DI with two harddrive volumes, C: OS and D: DATA.
They both contain data. Is there a way to combine them into one volume, C:, without loss of data? The reason for this wanted merge is that I don't really need two partitions, and find one being more manageable.

Sincerely
Jokke

You can download and run GParted off of a CD/DVD. It'll let you merge partitions.

    Does it run from USB?

It might. I have not checked in quite some time. If not, there are plenty of free utilities that will convert an ISO to run from USB.

It definitely will run from USB. You will need to make sure your PC will boot from a USB drive. If it's less than 5 years old that shouldn't be a problem.

Using tuxboot it will. Instructions found here: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/liveusb.php#windows-setup

You could also use the System Rescue CD (my tool of choice for doing all this sort of stuff) which has GParted on it.

Never mind, I went the classic route, formatted, deleted the D partition and merged the empty space with C.
