It's in my bulleted points in the first post :)

Just in a corner somewhere is fine. I just need that so that no one can say I switched the first page on them ;)

Oh, I thought it was on the printed version. I read it four times trying to find it, it's was driving me nuts, lol.

This contract leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I am at a loss for words otherwise...

Ok. I've done a little bit of thinking. I do not want to sign the contract. It was the original spirit of the team that made me so generous to the team with IC2. I have spent at least $500 on IC2 to make it a great folder for the team. Not to mention the electric bill which my wife keeps pointing out. I didn't mind being generous because of the spirit of the team. And now I am expected to sign a contract when I have proven my loyalty to the team and the ICx/SMx project?

    IC2's current configuration:

    MSI K7N2G Nforce2 mobo
Athlon XP 1700+ oc'd to the hilt
512MB PC2700 Corsair XMS for stability with oc
    2 20GB HD's in a mirror
    465watt Enermax whisper power supply
I put a quality UPS behind it to protect it from harm and potential downtime.

If this means I can no longer be a host for IC2 then so be it.

It leaves a bad taste in our mouths too, red :( I'm not enjoying the experience of having to ask people who've been on the team longer and donated more time, money, and effort than me to sign these things.

I've asked before, and I'll ask again:

shenlong and film completely ****ed this team, they spat in your face, they spat in mine, they spat in the face of everyone who's ever donated anything to this team.

    My question to you is:

How else would you go about it? We say "Shenlong, we want the rig back" - not for selfish reasons, but to give to a better host, who will keep it folding (which is the entire point of the project). He says "hahah **** you.. I pwned j00 good kthxbye!" and then him and his childish friends go about harrassing our site again for a month. We say "Film, we want the rig back since it hasn't been folding since OCTOBER and you haven't even had the common decency to tell us why" .. He says ... nothing, because he's dropped off the face of the earth. we have to play private eye for a month to track him down.

So, I ask you personally, red, and T1 - what should we do?

I'm not trying to offend anybody - I am seriously at a loss as to what to do. The contract leaves a bad taste in MY mouth as well. What should we do about it? You guys leave the decision making up to a few people who agonize over it for months and then when a decision is finally made you say "it sucks".. So what would you do?

i know im not a host, in fact i've never put my name down (as i would have nowhere to put it), but what prime says hits a chord with me. the project is for the good of the team, and the contract just insures that the teams provided parts remain folding towards that goal. i understand that trust could be taken into account, as it might seem that the contract implies that you are untrustworthy on your own, but its kind of the same thing as signing an NDA or when you fill out a security for to access classified info (maybe thats just me :)). there's no reason to take offense to it if you know that it will never be necessary

    that is all

It's hard to put into words all the feelings I have right now. :(

When the ICx/SMx project first began, I fully expected some members to eventually take off with the parts and disappear. What do you expect when you give computer parts to immature kids. Now it has happened. Tough s**t... Life goes on.

Now it must be very intimidating to new members to see that they have to give up their firstborn child if they want a chance at hosting a SMx machine.

I find that the folding forums have been pretty bland for the last while. It doesn't seem that there are any new members posting, and old friends seem to be disappearing.

Maybe I am smoking some cheap crack, but that's how things seem to me.

And... the only sure way to prevent members from taking off with donated parts is to not give the parts to members in the first place.

I take exception with this assessment. I think you're over-dramatizing it a bit. I mean, come on, in reality all we're saying is "this computer is owned by shortmedia. we are loaning it to you. if we ask for it back and you don't give it to us, that's theft".

What it boils down to is this: do we have an agreement in place, in order to protect the donations that people have given, or do we just continue along as we have, and hand out computers to people, hoping that they won't pull a shenlong on us.

If the answer is "no agreement" then I think many people will be nervous about donating parts or money to the team, since they have no guarantee that the parts will not be stolen. Before it was a vague fear, now it's reality - it's happened.

witenoiz, KingFish, shackwrrr, and dragonV8 are people that have all joined in the past week or so that participate... plus several others that haven't spoken up yet. The only loss I'm aware of in the past month is nitsud, and I'm not sure where he got off to... :-/ In general, the team forum is blazing along faster than ever in terms of post and thread numbers... plus we are getting forum members faster than we did on IC... I'd say we're getting along pretty well :)

Maybe we're not looking at the same forums, but we have had a steady influx of new members. Some are beginners, others are experienced high-rollers. We appreciate them all.

Old friends disappearing? Drop in here sometime. You might bump into a few of them.

Look at it this way then. When a law is passed it cannot be retroactive. :nudge:

I'm not sure how to express it otherwise. How is my track record? Is IC2 performing well? Is my word worth anything? Has my honor been tarnished? Why do I need to sign a contract? :hiding:

I did not leave it up to a select few to agonize over. I was never asked to be involved. :skeptic:

    Outstanding :respect:

    Is IC2 performing well?
It's the top-producing SMx rig :respect:

    Is my word worth anything?
    It's worth plenty :respect:

No! Your honor has never been questioned. The bottom line is that a few bad eggs have forced some changes to the way we send out rigs. We are asking all of the hosts to comply in order to be fair. What if we requested that only certain people sign, and didn't ask the same of others? The meaning would be pretty obvious: some are trustworthy, others are not. As it stands, the vast majority of existing hosts who sign the agreement will never ever have it mentioned again.

If you are a good host (goes for everyone and red you have been a great one) there should be nothing at all to worry about. Nothing. You keep it running, give us an update once in awhile and we are happy. We wont have to bug you guys at all.

Dont get mad at us, get mad at the ones that made us do this to you. The ones that have tarnished the project and this team. I am not passing the blame but we are trying to protect all that you guys have done for the team.

I hope you guys wouldnt take this whole contract thing the wrong way but it seems to have gone that way. We just want to make sure we can keep loaning out these computers to wonderful hosts.
