Thrax, you'll want to pay special attention while rooting his Nook.

It's a delicate procedure, doubtless. I'll be gentle.

Thrax, I'll be available by phone (CM7 with Savaged-Zen kernel) if you need any assistance with EVOs or Heros.

LG's don't nearly have the same level of hacking community, and the tools are not available in the same capacity as they are for other devices.

SGS and HTC devices are thoroughly hackable with little to no risk.

    As Alex said:

    1) Very few phones.
    2) No community.
    3) Crappy tools.

I plan to bring (and have "hacked") both my G2 and a friends Inspire 4G.

You ok with doing Friends (not present) phone? Both he and I understand and agree to the terms expressed and the risks involved.

My buddy ended up getting an Infuse, so just an FYI I will only be having the G2 worked on.

I have a happily modded Evo running CyanogenMod 7 now!

I had an issue with the gps not locking in when I looked at maps, but I was able to fix it after a short google search to these threads:

    http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/22440-guide-the-hitchhikers-guide-to-flashing-and-cyanogenmod-updated-26-june-2011-now-with-gps-fix/

    which links to:
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14534313&postcount=2478

Now my GPS is about 2x as fast as before, and my battery life is extended by roughly a third.

I will also say that you should definitely make gmail accounts on your phone, and not use the phone only option - all of those contacts that I mistakenly made have been lost. Thankfully, only about 10% of my contacts were made in this way.
