    This is fantastic news. I've generally been okay with minimally compressed JPEGs, but I may actually try shooting RAW for the first time on my Nikon D40.

    Finally,
    Canon did have a RAW codec you could download, but it only worked with 32bit. I was getting tired of opening photos one by one in photoshop just to find an image I wanted.

    Nikon has been ignoring their customers' rants, asking for Windows 7 NEF (RAW) codec. Kudos to Microsoft. I hope this embarrassed Nikon.
