Skyrim Tweaks

Which ones are you using? Shaders? .ini tweaks? I haven't played with many yet (mostly because I couldn't be arsed to register on Skyrim Nexus), but did install the settings Thrax posted in the FXAA injector thread.

Nvidia posted a lengthy guide with some handy screenshot comparisons and benchmarks to judge if certain detail settings are worthwhile.

I'm using Enhanced distant terrain, which helps quite a bit for long distance stuff (still not perfect though).

I'm also using one of the sky enhancement mods.

A few other small things that matter to me as well. I haven't used any of the injector mods yet, still waiting for a more comprehensive package to come along, or a good list of .ini tweaks to do it myself.

I have done most of this, except the mods. Looks quite good to me.

The only mod I use is Skyrim 4gb.

I have manually fixed broken quests with the SetStage command, but I don't consider that modding. I consider it manual bug fixing.

    Using Thrax's injector mod

    >use more than 2GB RAM mod
    >no more blocky faces (so they look human)
    >nude women (just when they take their clothes off. i don't have all the women in Skyrim nekkid lol)
    >clean skin (mud wrestlers are cool but, meh. removes the dirt)
    >enhanced females (makes the females have some muscle, not barbie toothpicks)
    >enhanced skies (STARS, lots of them)
    >glowing ore (cause I hate missing ores when I'm in a dungeon)
    >inventory mod (categorizes my inventory by weight/value)
    >HD map (removes the fog of war)
    >no helmet (allows me to see my characters face while still receiving the armor bonus(boots/gauntlets/armor/helm)

and a couple ini tweaks for Crossfire

Just installed the Skyrim HD v1.2 mod which required the Skyrim 4GB mod. Definitely makes it a better looking game up close. Didn't seem to hurt my FPS much.

    1. Skyrim HD (4k*4k)
    2. Enhanced Blood Textures
    3. Realistic Water Textures
    4. Skyrim Enhanced Shaders (UHQ sharpening (sharper preset), rustic palette, high+dynamic saturation)
    5. Better smoke/embers
    6. Better night sky
    7. Better NPC clothing
    8. Less blocky faces + less ugly elven faces
    9. Flora overhaul
    10. 4GB memory addressing hack

    And a few others.

Is there a mod yet that lets me set two-weapon combinations to short-cut keys?
  • NiGHTSNiGHTS San Diego Icrontian
@CB it might not be what you're looking for, but a somewhat annoying but workable solution I have involves punching 1 (or whatever) twice to dual cast (and get the spell in my off-hand), so I can push the shortcut of the alternate weapon I'd like to use at the same time
  • fatcatfatcat Mizzou Icrontian
    @NiGHTS 4k textures, not 4GB

Skyrim HD now has 4k textures. You have to go to the download page.

Is skyrim4gb still available/necessary? I can't see the link anymore...

For anyone using mods with this game, I would recommend this: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/content/modmanager/

No, Skyrim4GB is obsolete with one of the December patches. LAA is enabled officially via that patch.

I don't believe so (I haven't needed it and I used a few HD mods) as the game has been officially patched.

It doesn't require any additional time investment, it just makes it so that if it's midday when you go into a cave, and you're only in there for 20 mins. it's still midday when you get back out. One can still 'T' as much as they want.

(I did, however, find one quest that gets a bit broken by the change, but not irreparably so)

I've read that it glitches some of the cinematics for the games main story. Are these isolated incidents? (Assuming of course if you've beaten the game with the time scaling.)
  • CBCB Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Der Millionendorf- Icrontian
I've actually not even begun the 'main' story yet. :/ (about 140 hours in, btw)

I've been waiting for an inventory mod because I seem to carry a whole lot of stuff. And the game's inventory UI is so console-centric it doesn't even have scroll bars (that I could find). SkyUI has been pretty good, and apparently it now works while bartering, which was its main shortcoming.
  • NiGHTSNiGHTS San Diego Icrontian
I'm a fan of SkyUI - made things way easier to track/find (I tend to hoard items)
