Welcome to the team, shackwrrr! What kind of logo are you looking for? Do you want an avatar or for a signature? If you want one for a sig, once you turn in your first work unit (WU) you can add a Team Short-Media sig using the sig generator.

Um, those of us with websites might like to have a standard graphic on them that says we are a part of Team S-M and if basic code leading to the forums were to pop up the forums in a browser window, we could get some free advertising for a good cause and a good site.

Downloads area, and recommended code would be good, logo download file and some standard code to link it to short media forums. Logo could be a GIF or JPG. The code download could be displayed as a literal text file to cut-n-paste where wanted in site code, with a on-click hop with _blank (new browser page) specified to force a new page and not have the website bandwidth hijacked by passing through site server that has the click-through on it. Essentially a literal img to hop code snippet as an ascii file for download or showing as pure text. Actually, I think Folding@Home might have such, but would like to link to my Team's forum myself on my domain now. I know how to build the code, but would like to see an easily accessible give-away logo file that the admins here would like to see in many places. Having one for on-hover to draw attention also would be a bonus, if a simple javascript snippet were available to discriminte between on-hover and and on-click displays.

This gets around copyright, it is being offered by the right folks-- those who own the Logo rights. Offering free for just this link purpose makes this kind of link use a free use exception.

I think Ageek has a good idea there - can we use the " smallheader2 " on our web site to link to the S-M Forum? I'm a little slow with code but if we had approved cut and paste from ? :respect: ? Who is in charge here ? :respect: ? Well, I would put a link on my web site. Jack

primesuspect, Shorty, and MediaMan are the top dogs here. I dont think they would mind you taking a logo and having it point here from another site.

On the front page there is a small banner which I suppose its supposed to be the one you guys can save and link to us with. Its a small flash one thats linked to SM.com. Lower right hand side near the bottom.

you can always check out the SM Artwork Thread to see if there's something there you'd want.

Let me see if it is masqed.... Ok, that is not masqed, but folks wanting to know about team do not want to figure out how to get to forums from main page, which is what this flash implies they are going to (main page). It should be used to lead to main site. I would like a graphic that echoes the left part of the sig.... I would be willing to run BOTH, but need second part also.

In box labelled "Link To Us" is what you are talking about, and for me that is halfway down a very tall page that is 3.5X times height of my borwser viewable area and box has to be scrolled down to see. Nice for front page link, but too general to indicatre it is about team and short-media unless I tabled and put link in cell with longer explanation of how to get to team info next to it.

Would, if it were GIF I could mod to add the folding team text to..... As a flash it does not say anything about the folding team, and the info about the folding team and discussion is in the forums, which the flash is not labelled for either. So, would need a flash dev pack to alter and then get approval to keep things decent between admins here and me. I want a two-fer, something that says team and says S-M. Don't have a flash dev pack, do not want to spend money just to alter something that could be a gif, feed more compactly, and do both things-- get folks to forums and to info about team. Article XREFS will get them back to main page. Flash is client version dependent for real success, I can only see effects on Linux because I have a flash client for linux run as plugin from Opera-- it is actually a Mozilla plugin. I am not gonna steal a base gif from site, would have to use a DOM driller and sucker app to get to the gifs, they are masqed deliberately and I respect that.

I edited the logo and renamed it. Maybe this will work for you for the logo. I just added some text and made a link to the forum

If it helps you to copy the text into your editor here is where you can find the link - I tried to copy the text but - that doesn't work.

Hope this is OK and that it will help. Jack

Remember, your dynamic sigs are just javascript so those could work too :) I'd bet you could just hyperlink the background image...

Above, click User CP, then edit profile ... then enter your F@H username in the box provided ... the logo will appear as if by magic :)

Marc, I think he's using the "forum default" postbit method, which spreads the user info across the top of the post, as opposed to the "old school" way which stacks it up on the left of the post.

I was scratching my head trying to figure out how the team logo got way over on the right, until I remembered that.

...prof is an old-school kinda guy... :mullet:
