Tea calms me too much and makes me want to sleep.

I don't hate tea, I drink it often (green and chamomile mostly). But, not as often as coffee :)

Also, I've heard of people putting butter in their tea as well. If it's unsalted butter, it's basically just like a thick cream, isn't it?

Bleh. How could you take such a perfect and defenseless tea leaf and ruin it with butter and salt?

I'm taking bets on how long before @Teramona admits that she loves coffee after the Chazzano cupping party. I give it 6-8 months before she buckles.

I appreciate your support, good sir, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

@Cola, you said something about lulz?

I have a mild obsession with coffee as shown by the following pictures. The first one is of premium coffee roasted by a small place in town called HasBeans. The second is of the machines that make the glorious and addictive process happen

I apologize if I came off dickish. I am far from knowing the intricacies of "good" coffee. There could be something going on there in that glass contraption other than just holding a filter and I would have no clue.

Oh @MrTrioT. Coffee beans soaked in artificially flavored oils is not good coffee. You can take any old crap-ass beans, saturate them in artificial flavor oil and come up with "French Vanilla" or "Hazelnut" coffee, etc.

It's like @Teramona says about chamomile and other herbals: It's a cup of lies. Also: Hills Bros? Keurig? You're ready for the next level, my friend.

It was funny dickish. No offense taken. Hence the bouncing purple heads of Loldum.

@pirateninja, the first and only time I heard about bulletproof coffee is on the keto subreddit. Keto is a high fat, moderate protein and low carb diet. Adding the butter to morning coffee isn't generally for taste, it's to get in some fat for the day.

  • @kimono54 Thanks, that makes sense. I haven't added butter since I tried it because I couldn't taste any improvement. I like my coffee black and watery anyhow.

    This is intriguing. Dammit.

  • Keurigs are not bad at all. You can use your own beans with them, they are just massively convenient. I have a Keurig and a French Press. French Press is for special occasions or when I feel like being fancy, but for me the experience of it derives more pleasure than the change in flavor brought out by the hotter water and longer brewing time.
    This is my current bean:

I wouldn't want a Keurig in my house necessarily, but in a hotel it is amazing.

On second thought... ICHQ is basically a hotel...

Screw Keurig, get an Aeropress. Same 1-cup convenience but much more controllable results (plus you can brew near-espresso strength coffee using it).

    This is my current bean:

I don't understand why people don't think a french press is convenient. I make coffee with a french press at work everyday, and it's extremely convenient. I grind my coffee at home before going to work, which takes like 20 seconds. When I walk in the door at work, I turn on my electric tea kettle on my way to my desk, turn on my computer, get settled, pour the water on my coffee in my french press, and viola, I have coffee brewing, and everyone is jealous. It doesn't take up extra space, I can drink good coffee at work (while everyone drinks the most disgusting coffee I've ever tried), and I have an awesome thermos that keeps my coffee warm. It's convenient, and delicious. Oh, and my french press was $10 at Ikea, and I keep it at work (I have a Bodum at home).

What truly makes a Keurig convenient? Please enlighten me. You are still grinding you own coffee, putting water in the machine, turning it on, have to clean it, etc. And it shoots water through really quick, not making a truly delicious full body cup of coffee.

Keep it simple and cheap. But I guess everyone has their own routine. I prefer my own convenient routine. ;)

Let's not forget the environmental cost of Keurig and the manufacture and packaging of all those little cups... not to mention the added cost of licensing fees for all that slick, highly marketed coffee. I would MUCH prefer my money go to support small businesses and single origin, small local farm coffee.

Oh stop it. I use the plastic reusable cups. The convenience is they take 15 seconds to clean and when I wake up in the morning all I have to do (really) is press a button which takes less than a second. I make my grinds once per week which takes an additional 30 seconds, but that's negligible because I would do the same for a French Press.

The convenience is in clean up time, and there is no environmental impact of my using my Keurig. In fact the electricity it uses is less energy than the gas stove heating up to bring water to a boil for my french press. Did I mention how long it takes to bring water to a boil when you aren't using efficient electric coils?

I used a French press for the first time recently and see myself getting one soon.

Dude, Keurig is amazing. I love those things.

I will take my coffee heresy elsewhere, however.
