Your gonna have sh*tloads of driver issues for sound and video cards etc.. Even uspposed 64bit versions don't load. Fo many folks your not gonna consider this version exactly ready for prime time yet. (apologies to primesuspect in advance)

It took 20 minutes to download the iso on comcast cable? I thought a t1 was way faster then cable/dsl ?

It took me 15 minutes to get it on cable :D:D
    Comcast cable: 4mb bandwidth
    T1 Line: 1.5mb bandwidth

T1s are faster upstream (you get 1.5mb upstream as well), as cable is usually only 128k or 256k upstream.

T1 download speed is only about 1.54mbit, so some good cable have a faster download speed than t1

A clean simple explanataion. Thanks. Cable is for surfing and T1's for hosting. I get it now. (grin)

only sound I have seen is realtek. If anyone gets other sound working post back here.

And I had heard that win2k3 had a better scheme for using the 64bit AMD memory controller thing and my sandra memory bandwidth is in the 3000 range on XP and the 4500 range with 64bit win2k3 if anyone cares.

all we need no is to get some benchmarks to compare to 32 bit windows
  • TexTex Dallas/Ft. Worth
    edited February 2004
    What benchs you want?

Geez just flashed the bios to a new version and made sure that I had interleaving enabled and just rolled a 5130 now in the sandra memory benchmark and this is still using the old 32bit version of sandra not the 64bit version.

5130 with reg ecc pc2100 memory? Thats absurd folks. Sandra says teh same memory in my msi k7d would roll a 573 not a 5130 if thats a clue.

My Nortons anti-virus is choking so that would severly limit what I can use this sucker for also.

Anyone got anti-virus software running on this yet?

And I just got email from Turtle Beach. Was hoping they might have a beta driver or something for some sound.

Not only do they not have one they said they had no plans to ever introduce 64bit driver versions at this time. Crap I don't see Creative offering drivers either so....

I guess I have to go buy a friggin realtek sound card ? Good grief...

When I put the CD in to install, I forgot I needed drivers for my SATA and IDE RAID in order for it to see that I have any HDD's.

Can I just use the Floppies with the windows XP drivers on them to install? Or do I need to use/do something else?

Most are having a great deal of trouble getting it to se the sata or raid drivers at all. And no I have yet to get either of the 64bit versions to use ANY driver thats not Microsuxs verified 64bit. Even other 64bit drivers... Hopefully you will have better luck. I bet your only shot is to try and setup a unattended install and hack those drivers into the txtext setup area. Not real straight forward if you have never done ity but I've done it with regular XP so it sees raid drivers withjout hitting f6. But even then with 64bit XP it may still puke on you after all that work. At the present it seems to seriously not like any drivers not 64bit. And it needs a sh*tload of drivers not available yet.

They had a few sata drivers in one of the links above.

You know no one is going to buy XP 64 when it comes out now, right? This ought to tide us over until Longhorn gets here.

If you have a Silicon Image controller, they released 64-Bit drivers for different controllers last year.
Go here and navigate to the drivers download section.
