We've written a lot about the NEA providing grants for video games as a valid form of art. We've gone on TV and been featured in comics. This year, the NEA has started to issue grants for artistic video game development.

Now they are hiring to fill the position of media arts specialist to go over grant applicants.

If you are willing to live in Washington DC, have a lot of experience with video games from the artistic or journalistic side (in a professional capacity), and want a job with the US Government, take a gander at the job listing.

I'm surprised they're not just cherry-picking the developers from Call of Duty.
  • I'm going to roll the bones and apply.

I'm also going to apply, but I see little chance, since they specifically say they want some one with experience managing the production of a video game. As much knowledge and education as I have re: interactive media, I don't have that particular experience. :/
  • Not true, I remember a 3d anaglyph video game you produced back in high school.

Cliff, if you need a professional reference, I know a couple of people in the NEA, and I'll be happy to refer you. Good luck! The job needs a good person like you! I truly believe this with all my heart: This is very important work.
  • @CB - I don't have the specific experience either, but I'll roll the bones and apply. Thanks @primesuspect we agree, it's important work.
