Forum time slippage
Apparently the server's time has been slipping ahead for who-knows-how-long. By the time I noticed it, it was 4 hours and 20 minutes into the future. Vanilla was compensating for the hours, thinking it was your timezone difference. So, no one ever saw times more than 59 minutes off.
Our hosting company, when asked to fix the offset, assumed that we were on UTC (we're on EDT) when resetting the time, which temporarily compounded the problem.
So for the next 4 hours you'll be seeing comments dropping out-of-order into existing discussions. New discussions will not be affected, of course. There's nothing I can do about this because the corruption was gradual - there wasn't a moment where the clock shot ahead 4 hours where I can fix everything since then.
//edit: FYI, this is the sixth time this year our time has slipped on the server. Our host has "fixed it" repeatedly, including reinstalling the time daemon. I've given up on them being able to fix anything on this server and we'll be transitioning to a new one whenever I have time to finish it.
