What are your favorite board games? but I've started collecting a few myself and for Christmas I need something to put on my list... so a new board game it is!!

For me and my friends, this is probably the games we like the most:
1. 7 Wonders
2. Dungeon Lords / Dungeon Petz
3. Lords of Waterdeep
4. Blood Bowl
5. Ticket to Ride
6. Game of Thrones
7. Small World

I own a bunch more, but those are the ones we seem to play.

Some friends and I get together once a week for board games, have been for several months now. The first night the host introduced us to Zombicide, and I think we've had maybe two weeks since then where we didn't play.

Also, everyone should be introduced to the stupidity that is The Batman Game. I keep the box in my car.

I bought Diplomacy two years ago. I was super excited to try it. Then I read the rules and said, "Wow, this will actually ruin Icrontic friendships, I want no hand in this" and put it back on the self.

Consider making house rules for it. If the rules suck, edit them. Plus you can put an Icrontic spin on them.

That means boners, all the time.

And maybe beer and scotch themes.

But mostly boners.

Really, Diplomacy is just a very divisive game. The only way to win is to get people to trust you, and then turn on them without warning. You have to do this multiple times each game. Who ever is best at the trust/betrayal aspect wins. It's as if it was expressly designed to make the people playing the game hate one another, like some kind of psychology experiment in the fragility of friendships.

To change the rules enough to make it work, you might as well just play a different game. RISK is nice (the newer versions are, anyhow) and in the same genre. Just play that.

I like Talisman and Settlers of catan, two games I've spent many hours with.

the game is actually pretty cool. mix of Monopoly and Risk (mostly for the length of the game)
