Do not want. Catan against the AI? Nope.

I might pick this up unless there's a better way to play Catan on PC.

Catan with cutesy animations and no multiplayer completely misses the point.

Personally I thought it was worth looking up on Steam just to listen to the German trailer for the game.

Local multiplayer? Isn't that... a boardgame?

It's a boardgame with all the troublesome setup and rules monitoring automated for you.

Except with Catan, it doesn't work at all, because the game includes private information. A game like Vegas Showdown would work okay hotseat on one system (as long as each player had their own controller) because no one has hands or anything, but with Catan, you would have to have each person only look at the screen during their turn, to keep hands private, except when you want to trade, in which case you have to let everyone look at the deal one at a time in turn, to make a decision. This is how the hotseat Catan game works on the mobile edition, and it's terribly tedious. Each turn takes ten times as long as it would at a table, and no players who aren't taking turns are ever engaged with the board.

It would be kinda like giant Catan without all the parts that make it cool.

Here's a version of digital Catan that has online multiplayer, and was released about six years ago. Plus it's 40% cheaper.

Not trying to promote one system over another, but the point is that it's been done properly before... so what the fuck Mayfair?

The Xbox edition is pretty good. A port of that to Steam would be neat.

Agreed. Plus, all the graphical extras and cutesy animations in the current Steam version are unnecessary. Everyone knows we just play Catan to have wood for sheep.

    ...right guys? Guys?

Don't lie, you just play so you have an excuse for having wood for sheep.

It's nice to feel normal and accepted every once in a while. ;)
