For some reason, the POS stops working after about 2 weeks. I can't tell you how many hours I've killed trying to get to the bottom of it. I tried our host's support, I tried Vanilla's ops, and I googled and googled and googled. Flipped so many switches and config settings I can't remember them all. In the end, I have admitted defeat:
0 0 * * 0 searchd --stop && searchd
That is the cron job to reboot the damn thing every week. The Cathedral of Linux has a squatter and he isn't taking any more guff. .
Well, @IcyLiquid was not content with that and has flipped more knobs & dials to see if we can keep our pretty cathedral clean. Cron commented out. Proceed with your searching and brace for impact. .
