Lol, i couldnt help but notice that a bunch of these are on rock band or guitar hero. Your not a mainstreamer are you?:hrm:

p.s. As a guitarist i can rightfully say that those games suck and will teach you nothing about instruments. Go out and pick up a real guitar, bass, or drum kit and then youll really start having fun.;)

Today I was shredding on a Queensryche solo and it was the greatest feeling in the world. Guitar keeps getting more and more fun and guitar hero keeps getting shittier and shittier. It barely entertains me. Guitar is the most fun thing I've ever done, especially with a new guitar (Custom Strictly 7 http://www.strictly7.com/ you should take a look, their sick guitars for rock and metal, and play better than any ibanez, or jackson or anything. The Venom is sick for black metal. Anyway...) and a Mesa Boogie Mark V, (maybe some sick pedals too). So it'll get even more fun, and more fun, and more fun. Guitar hero is for losers with the ability to make themselves look like bigger douche bags. Its fine if people just chilax and play it as a game, but people take it too far. Like fucking BYOB by System of a down. Easiest fucking song in the world, yet people think its impossible thanks to GH. Yet the metal songs people think are easy as fuck. Or the rock songs. GAHHHHHH.

And everyone knows Working man is the sickest Rush song fucking ever. YEAH RUSH!

    Damn, I ranted. Oh well.

Right on man. Right now, im working with a Dean Razorback V. They're really nice guitars because theres just so much you can do to make them unique, I've almost never seen any two that were alike. Of course the tunings are usually different (Im using an Open-C Major tuning) but theres alot more that can be done to make it just the way you want it. Im also using a stock Ibanez 4-string bass but i didnt invest that much time or money into it so far so its not exactly anything to brag about, lol.

Also, its good to see that there is someone that agrees that guitar hero and rock band dont do crap for playing real instruments. Almost everyone i agrue this with says that people who get good on rock band guitars and drums have an easier time learning to play the real instrument (none of these people have actually tried). I used to play the origional guitar hero before I started playing real guitar and bass and i got pretty good at it, but sucked at the real deal. Now that I'm actually pretty good at the real thing, I find that I absolutely suck at guitar hero and rock band. The bar thing that is supposed to be a pick only moves about 2-3 cm if that and im not hitting any strings, not to mention that I keep trying to play too many notes because not all of them are shown. If anyone here could tell me of one person (a musician of course) that claims that they benefitted from these games, please tell me.

But sorry for side tracking the subject.

Pain Killer - Iron Maiden (Old School Metal)
I Walk Alone - Iced Earth (Metal)
Demon of the Fall - Opeth (Melodic Death Metal)
The Perpetual Horrors - Naglfar (Black Metal)
Absolute Sole Right - Dimmu Borgir (Black Metal)
Saviours of Doom - Old Man's Child (Black Metal)

    Ive got lots more

I have the musical talent of a breadstick, but perhaps I could try this.
Guitar Hero is probably pretty good for guitarists (or anyone else who plays a musical instrument) because it's about rhythm, timing and hand-eye co-ordination. Playing "Through The Fire..." on the hardest difficulty won't make you a great guitarist, but I'd suspect it's more the physical/mental work that would help.
    Perhaps.

    Perhaps.

The only help guitar hero would help is preparing you for the stretching and synchronizing of both hands, but other than that it won't really help. Learning guitar is just a train that you've got to jump on to. There's nothing that will really prepare you for it.

Canti, I'm appalled that you would call that mainstream, lol. The only sort of mainstream stuff on that list would be Job for a Cowboy and Pantera and thats cuz of all the new metal posers popping up now.

As for the guitar hero thing, you will never get better at guitar with this game unless you've never played one before. And as far as eye-hand-coordination goes, you shouldnt need it unless your just learning. Of course when I'm writing something I look at what I'm playing but thats just an aid to memorize positions. When your seriously playing, you shouldnt need to look at your guitar while doing it if your any good.
