    Huh, this looks vaguely interesting...

I do have to say, though, that the Duels of the Planeswalkers on XBLA was pretty fun. Played it for a few months against a friend of mine who's an official tourney judge, and he didn't hate it either :)

I guess it depends on whether you want the card game itself, or something closer to the imagined experience.

Reminds me of Heroes of Might and Magic.

Thanks for the write up on this one CB. It does seem like it could be interesting, hopefully it pans out well for them. Did you grab some information on how to get in on a beta test if there is one?

The game is still pre-alpha, so those decisions haven't been made yet, but I'm on the press list for the game now, so I'll be keeping you up to date on any developments as they are announced.

Seems cool, went to gencon where they were showing it off and my friend tried it out. At first it was a bit difficult to understand how it worked, then after a while he got it and it was pretty fun. The biggest problem... and the reason why this game will fail is from what I heard is that they are going to charge per "pack" of guys. So you basically buy packs like the card game, just virtual....

I don't get how you think that means automatic fail. Sounds like a great idea to me.

When it costs the same amount as a booster pack of cards for in game virtual characters it starts to add up if you want to play and do well. Not many people want to pay for it since it gets a bit addicting and they spend so much on it. Generally speaking people prefer to pay $50 up front and guarantee they never have to pay a cent more in the future. MMOs on the other hand are different since they offer updates to the game constantly.

Basically the Tactics game will be like magic the gathering online. You can buy that game, or another tactics game for a fraction of the costs due to the amount you would spend on "booster packs"
