In looking at some videos on Youtube it seems what GQ has done here is rather common, "I want to create a fireplace" *light* [House burns down].
It also looks like glass will not catch fire. Though I have still never had a problem with my above dirt method.
[Edit] I put an example just outside your wall GQ, I couldn't see where you wanted it up in your house or I would have put it there for ya. Remove the dirt and you will see just the tops of the wood will stay on fire, then feel free to put any stone, brick, glass, ect around it.
No, the bottom of the fireplace was stone. I know not to put wood down and then put fire on it! I didn't know that the fire jumped across stone.
I don't know, I'm feeling too suspicious to put another fireplace up. Maybe if I have the whole crew on hand to help out and snuff out any problems, hehe.

I was talking about the one in Ryder's video.
Right, and maybe separate the living room from the rest of the house until you're sure it works.
I have been lucky with fire. I have a swank 3-log fireplace above my pool/waterfall and a lava flow in my bedroom that have so far contained themselves.
Okay, seriously, wtf. Now something is just out to get me.
All I did was log in- that's it- I hadn't even done anything yet- and I turn around and my treehouse is on fire. I don't even have fire equipped right now. There's no way that I could have lit anything on fire.
I think this is it for me. When I don't even know WHY my treehouse is burning down I can't stop it from happening again. Sigh.
There's gotta be a glitch, GQ. Last night my bro lit the cross in my lawn on fire for lulz (real classy). When he did that, two trees nowhere near him spontaneously caught on fire.
A few weeks ago, a section of Kingpin's forest burned down while no one was even close to it.
Been deforesting/ Fire Fighting /building for the last few hours. If you put a block on top of the burning block then remove it the fire does not come back. All of the fire is out now.
GQ, I left a couple hundred wood blocks, dirt, sand, trees and some axes to aid in the rebuild in the box just to the right at the top. I also replanted the small orchard the burned down next to your tree. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.
Also I saw your big screen TV, that is some Awesome right out of the Flintstones.
As a non-participant, I am really being entertained by this stuff. It seems like your whole world is one of those "perma-burn coal veins" or something... "The fire has been raging for 114 years under that mountain..."

Stone doesn't burn, but it does allow the spread of fire, up to X stones away, I believe.
Need to test.
no - the bottom of the fireplace was the wood floor.

Or build the fireplace first
Well, the house didn't go down completely this time, a lot of the framework is still there, so I can't do the fireplace first.
But I could disconnect the living room.
GQ, If I promise to not burn your house down, may I light your fireplace?
Hey now!

This game appeals to the architect in me.

Sweet farm, bro!

That's one terribly annoying bug.
I was just about to post.... someone needs to learn the joy of stone buildings.
FYI.

Apparently the Icrontic minecraft server is a tragic recreation of Centrailia Pennsylvania.
