Not a lot. But the thing is with Mapple Syrup there is different sugar content per each thing of it. Can be very easy to over carb and under carb. Yeah a cup should be plenty of water.

i'm doing my second batch ever. i'm using Homebrew's Pils mix, i'll keep posting/updating here, mostly to remind myself what/when i need to do things
The last beer I had input on was She Said Yes Hibiscus Wit
This is what my boyfriend brewed to mark the occasion of proposing to me. So that's pretty cool. I love hibiscus tea, and we had some other hibiscus beer a while ago, so I thought a pink beer that tasted like my favourite tea ingredient would be cool. He told me he was brewing my (slightly tweaked) kolsch recipe, and surprised me with this.
So anyway, this has been consumed in its entirety, and I don't even know what's on tap at his place right now. He's designing a two chamber temperature controller thingy. He was talking about BrewPi, and my eyes glazed over when talks of arduinos happened. He's an engineer, I'm an artist. I don't get that stuff
Here is the pretty pink beer!

@Mercantile519 not a homebrew, but if you like hibiscus, you HAVE to find this one
@oni_dels I've heard of it, haven't tried it. i have so much effing beer right now, i don't know what to do with it. and Bobby has over 100 bottles in his cellar right now. we've joked that we need a pre-nup that includes all our beer haha
I worked for 5 years making a company a more attractive buyout target. It got bought out, and I had shares as part of the package. I put 90% of them into the kids' college fund, and put 10% towards a new homebrewing setup.
Picobrew Zymatic (ordered in first rounds of kickstarter) + counterflow chiller + $100 rolling table from Costco & a used-once kegerator I picked up on Craigslist for $150:
Ohmbrew Fermostat + wine fridge on special at Lowes/Home Depot (can't remember, sorry for blurry pic):
I need to build a shelf off the compressor hump in the kegerator. I know I can fit 3 2.5gal kegs in there, possibly 4. Going to put a 3-tap draft tower on the top, haven't gotten around to it yet. Currently just using party taps on the inside.
I'll bring some of these to ICNY. Brew logs coming soon.

I just started a batch. From an IPA premix, i added lemon zest and cranberry peels to the primary fermenter. Very unsure what it'll do, i'm just experimenting with what should add taste/acidity/bitterness!

Generally you don't see add ins for ipas. The idea is to let the hops come through as the flavor Carrier. Too !much addition may clash and clutter the flavors. I hope it comes through for you man

Quick question: has anyone tried to make a gluten-free malt from scratch? One of my best friends has celiac's disease and i wanna try to make a tasty beer for him.
Yep I've done my own buckwheat malt. It's far easier to go through a specialty shop though. Point him to:
Glutenfreehomebrewing.org
Coloradomaltingcompany.com
If extract brewing is acceptable you can also use Maillard Malts sorghum extract syrup. I've used this for all of my beer bases and have had great results.
Edit: I'll try to remember to post more of my resources when I get home. I'm on a phone right now and typing is hard.

How does the picobrew work out for you, @the_technocrat ? Kinda want some perspective on it.
I enjoy the design, biology and chemistry of brewing. I also have 3 kids now - so if I had to sit and watch a pot boil (like I've done for ~7 years prior), I'd likely never get to brew.
Note that you can brew quick, but I choose not to - I do the full, stepped rests and sometimes throw in first-wort hopping and other stuff that lengthens the brew cycle considerably. I plan for the brew process to take 8 hours.
But...I don't have to be there for all of it, just the start & when it needs to chill. I stick around for a little, just to make sure there's no leaks in some of the modified hoses I've made, and that there's no waterfall coming out of the front.
But basically, I do all the parts I enjoy the most, then start the machine and take the kids to the zoo.

Huh, I might steal this idea for a Halloween costume! I'm terrible at coming up with ideas.
It was pretty easy, just bought a bolt of felt from the fabric store and sewed the pieces onto an old t-shirt. The hat was just smaller pieces glued to an old hat with a pumpkin stem. Sadly at the Halloween party a week before this Learn to Brew day, everyone thought I was the Jolly Green Giant...

37 years ago today, home brewing was federally recognized as legal!
Six years ago this May it became legal in Oklahoma. We're so progressive here.
Well at least it is now. Here's me as a giant hop.
It's not like the legal status stopped anyone. From what I understand it was treated as a case of "it's fine if you don't get caught"... So mostly as long as you weren't being a dumbass it was fine.

I made a thing.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Very cool. What parts did you use?
Yeah, I'd like to see your setup as well. I'd guess its some sort of RIMS setup, but that temp display monitoring is awesome.
OK, so long story short:
Yes @MAGIC, it's a RIMS...sort of.

A well-received GF recipe mine, brewed for summertime.
It will not taste like traditional beer - but it's a pleasant drink that tastes more like what people suspect the Celtics brewed in medieval times.

You're more progressive than Alabama. Yay?

I'd harvest some hops, but the baby cardinals have already called dibs.
Oh, next thing you know everyone in line for fresh hops is gonna be putting out a nest to hold their spot. This game is ridiculous.
Doing a thing right now...
First batch in the PicoBrew
I heard @UPSLynx is a beer. True?
