x264 Benchmark 2.0
The x264 Benchmark 2.0 tool is a nifty script that measures a system’s ability to encode a short 720p video into the x264 format.
Results are reported by the tool for both x264.exe version 0.58.747 and v0.59.819M. The results always seem better using the newer of the two, so that is what we report in our charts below.
The X264 benchmark loves multi-core CPUs and the Phenom II is especially potent in this test. The X4 955 leads the way for first run frames per second, and ties with the DDR2 Q9550 combo at second run frames per second.
