The Razer Blade is finally in the wild

Razer Blade available online buy at NCIXDual Canadian-American Citizenship computer retailer NCIX seems to have beaten everyone else to the punch, and put the Razer Blade gaming laptop out into the wild as of yesterday.

You may recall our discussion about the Razer Blade back in August of 2011, when they showed the prototypes at CES. This is the first retailer to actually offer the Razer Blade to buy.  A quick survey with Google Shopping, Bing Shopping, Amazon and BestBuy reveals that NCIX is the only retailer to have this laptop on offer anywhere. It is most assuredly not a good sign that NCIX has ordered only ten of these, to boot.

$2,799 CAD gets you a 17.3″ 1920×1080 laptop with a dual-core Intel i7-2640M at 2.8GHz, Nvidia GeForce GT555M graphics, 8GB of memory, a 256GB SSD, and all those goodies like the Switchblade interface that made the laptop attention-grabbing 9 months ago. That leaves it an entire generation behind on CPU and graphics, and is certain to leave gamers questioning whether it can actually run the latest and greatest titles at acceptable performance.

    31 May 2012 ~ 5:27pm BuddyJ It's been available from Razer on their page for US buyers forever now. Not much of a story really, unless you're Canadian, eh.

    31 May 2012 ~ 5:32pm RootWyrm A number of retailers listed the Razer Blade preemptively (before they even knew if they could get any to sell or would.) It's a fairly normal practice used to judge interest via preorders and inquiries, and to get better search engine placement.
    This is the first retail appearance where customers could actually touch and buy the Razer Blade in person I have been able to find. (They even have four of them out on the floor at their Canadian stores.)
    I couldn't even find another retailer with the item listed as "out of stock/coming soon."

    1 Jun 2012 ~ 4:29pm RootWyrm I was going to make a special trip to do exactly that, but they said I wasn't allowed into the country after the last time. Something about Crown Royal, trying to raid the Strategic Bacon Reserve, and making moose play hockey.
