The folks over at the Indie Royale have just launched their new series of 100-hour-only ‘lightning packs’ starting with a bundle of Serious Sam goodness.
With the lightning packs, the Indie Royale guys are promising even more delicious game bundles, but with the emphasis on focused collections of niche titles rather than the eclectic mix of the regular bundles. To that end this bundle contains no fewer than six Serious Sam titles ranging from the classic Serious Sam: The First Encounter and The Second Encounter first person shooters through to The Greek Encounter, a brand new 8-bit top-down ‘demake’. Also in this one are the franchise’s three indie spinoffs—The Random Encounter RPG as well as the side scrollers Double D and Kamikaze Attack.
Another difference from the usual bundles is the complete absence of any Mac or Linux versions—it’s Windows only, and fairly limited at that, with only Double D and The Random Encounter having the full complement of Windows/Desura/Steam options. The Greek Encounter and Kamikaze Attack are both available as direct downloads as well as on the recently open sourced Desura—but buyers will have to make do with just Steam copies of The First Encounter/The Second Encounter.
Although this bundle differs greatly from the Indie Royale’s usual diverse mix of indie games it’s still a great deal for any fans of Serious Sam and with its keen pricing it could well convert a few more to the franchise. Well worth picking up.
