Games for Windows – LIVE bridges XBLA to the PC

Microsoft recently announced that their Games for Windows – LIVE platform will now feature Gamertag/Gamerscore sharing for current XBL customers, bringing with it a unified friends list that carries across both supported PC games and the Xbox 360 console.  The service also offers single and multiplayer achievements, voice chat, messaging, and TruSkill online matchmaking.

The launch lineup will include Resident Evil 5, Red Faction: Guerrilla, and Battlestations: Pacific, as well as new exclusive LIVE-enabled versions of popular digital games such as World of Goo and Osmos.  These games can, of course, be purchased with Microsoft Points or credit card.

As a bonus to users of the service, Microsoft is also offering an updated LIVE-enabled version of Tinker at no cost, which was formerly an exclusive extra in Windows Vista Ultimate.

  1. CB Finally.

Now they just need to make it so that logging into my Xbox doesn't kick my PC off of MSN Messenger.
  2. UPSLynx Geez.... about frigging time. The lack of function/features in LIVE was really pathetic.

So will it feature a dashboard like the current xbox LIVE setup has?
  3. primesuspect It doesn't seem like it. Seems like it will only work within supported games.

Howdy, ! Got something to say?
